Board Trustee Vacancy Update:

Greenville Board of Education Trustee Charlie Mahar submitted his letter of resignation, which states he will be resigning from his expiring 6-year term (which ends on December 31, 2024) effective immediately upon the Montcalm County Board of Canvassers certifying the November 5, 2024, election results. Charlie is one of two candidates running for two open abbreviated terms for the Greenville School Board on the November 5, 2024, ballot and, therefore, must resign from his expiring 6-year term to be able to accept office under the abbreviated term. By law, board members must name a replacement no later than 30 days following the resignation. The Greenville Board of Education accepted letters of interest for the position.

During a Special Board of Education Meeting on Monday, November 25, 2024, the Board appointed Richelle Lentz to fill the current open Board Trustee position through December 31, 2024.

Meeting Process:

All meetings are open to the public except, in accordance with state statutes, the board meets in closed session to discuss matters of personnel, negotiations, or the purchase of land.

Persons with disabilities who need special accommodations should call the Board of Education Office at 616-754-3686 five (5) days prior to the Board Meeting.

In the agenda, a time is set aside for citizen comments. Generally, questions of fact can be answered at the meeting at which they are raised. Other questions may be referred to the administration for investigation and study, and a reply given by mail or phone at the earliest possible date.

Citizens are encouraged to take concerns directly to the staff person closest to the problem to allow for a timely response.
